Shelter credits volunteers and rescue partners for recent adoptions; Clear the Shelter planned Aug. 29

Shelter manager Levi Liao told the advisory committee July 15 that recent outreach—in elementary school career days, a public‑safety event, and the Peach Festival—helped increase visibility and adoptions. Liao said volunteers and rescue partners contributed to 20 adoptions at the Peach Festival and that Parker County Pets Alive sponsored medical treatment for several animals to make them adoptable.

Liao highlighted two recent success stories: Abby, a roughly 10‑year‑old Labrador mix who spent 10 days at the shelter before being adopted despite testing heartworm positive; and Titus, one of 18 German shepherds removed from poor conditions in a single coordinated intake, many of whom were later placed with the help of staff, volunteers and rescues.

Liao announced the shelter will participate in the nationwide Clear the Shelter campaign with promotions throughout August and a major event on Aug. 29 aimed at increasing adoptions in partnership with local rescues and businesses.
