At its July 13 meeting the Plainview Public Schools Board of Education completed its required annual reviews of multiple policies and heard reports from committee chairs on facilities, teaching and activities.
The board reviewed Policy No. 504.20 (Bullying Education and Intervention) and Policy No. 1005.03 (Parental and Family Involvement in the Schools) as part of the annual oversight process; the minutes record that both reviews were conducted in compliance with the board's review schedule. Later in the meeting the board approved a package of policy revisions mandated by state statute, which included an increase in the bidding threshold noted in Policy 3540 from $118,000 to $144,000.
Committee reports included a Building and Grounds update that presented a prioritized list of facilities needs and invited board members to suggest additions. The Teaching and Learning committee did not meet but will continue monitoring calendar and student-hours issues. The Activity Coop committee provided a recap of the first year of cooperative athletics with Osmond and said it will recommend future coop agreements for school year 2027-28. The Activity Director also reported that gym floors had been refinished on July 16 and that the district will roll out a Bound app for activities and the school calendar.
Why this matters: Annual policy reviews satisfy statutory obligations and the approved policy updates change administrative thresholds and compliance language the district must follow; committee and administrative reports identify operational priorities (facility maintenance, scheduling and program coordination) ahead of the school year.
The board also announced a budget workshop set for Aug. 5, 2026, and a Welcome Back Dinner on Aug. 12; the meeting adjourned at 3:46 p.m.
