Middlebury Police Commission holds closed session on litigation, approves minutes and cancels August meeting

The Middlebury Police Commission on July 13 entered an executive session to receive a legal update on the Cronin and Ireland litigation. Chairman George Moreira announced the closed session and invited Chief Patrick Deely and Deputy Chief Ron Hunt to attend; the commission moved into executive session at 6:12 p.m. and exited at 6:38 p.m. The minutes state that no votes were taken during the closed session.

Commissioners also moved to adjourn at 6:39 p.m.; the motion was made by Commissioner Rita Smith and seconded by Commissioner Ralph Barra and passed unanimously. The commission scheduled its next regular meeting for September 14, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
