Ruthven City Council accepts Planning Solutions' resignation, keeps rent for two city units at $500

The Ruthven City Council met July 15, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ruthven Social Center and approved routine business while taking three notable actions: accepting the resignation of Planning Solutions, directing staff on street repairs and voting to keep rent for two city-owned units at $500.

Mayor Dustin Johnson called the meeting to order. Council member Maya Naig moved, and Council member Mitch Anderson seconded, to approve the June 10, 2026 meeting minutes, the claims report and the clerk’s financial statements; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with Anderson, Hailey Derrickson, Nichole Simington and Naig voting aye. Morgan Miller was absent.

City employee Toad Loder told the council that four patches on city streets need repair and that he is awaiting quotes for the work. The council did not take a separate vote on repairs at the meeting; Loder presented the status to the council for follow-up.

The council accepted the resignation of Planning Solutions by motion of Naig and second of Anderson. The roll-call vote showed Anderson, Derrickson, Simington and Naig voting in favor; Miller was absent. The council did not specify follow-up steps or name a replacement at the meeting.

Discussion also touched on mowing at Freedom Rock Park. During that discussion, Council member Hailey Derrickson moved, and Anderson seconded, to keep the rent for the next two city-owned units at $500; the motion passed with Anderson, Derrickson, Simington and Naig voting aye and Miller absent.

A member of the public, Pat Henningsen, spoke with Mayor Johnson about documents the Henningsen family requested to review; the minutes note the request but do not record a council decision on document access during the meeting.

The council adjourned at 6:52 p.m. on a motion by Derrickson and second by Naig.
