Superintendent Perry outlines hurricane recovery, academic supports and $1.45M in HVAC purchases

Operations updates included maintenance work (before/after documentation for the 400 building), and a list of HVAC equipment orders purchased through ESSER: GMMS $232,897; ESJP $145,769; Freshman Academy $392,500; JLO $139,402; LPE $138,900; ESJH $298,775; WSJE $101,000 — total $1,449,243. The district reported seeking roughly $5,000 in FEMA reimbursement for some maintenance items.

Transportation staff reported that 4,396 students use district transportation, with an average daily ridership of 1,168 students (about 27% usage). The district has 765 parent Bus View accounts; 52 two‑way radios were assigned to drivers and a random check showed 48/52 responded. Staffing shortages on 12 routes remain a barrier.

Other updates: Mrs. Eddriene Sylvester was introduced as the district Chief Financial Officer; HR described a teacher‑pipeline partnership with Nicholls State University and a streamlined bus‑driver onboarding program.
