Council approves switch to liquid chlorine and contract with ACCO for pool improvements

City staff told the council on July 13 that the pool's existing chlorinator is beyond repair. Public Works and ACCO of Johnston recommended switching from chlorine pucks to a liquid-chlorine system; the switch requires filing a new permit with the state pool-licensing authority. ACCO's contract covers the required work; the only equipment charge noted in the minutes is a $466.52 Stenner pump. Council approved the contract and the switchover, with a motion by Beth Opperman, seconded by Lucas Hauser; vote all ayes.

Council directed staff to implement the change before the pool is drained this fall and noted that the liquid-chlorine change will be part of the ACCO contract and the permit application. No additional equipment fees were recorded in the meeting minutes.
