Water/Sewer Superintendent Rick Meleski told the Selectboard that watermain construction will require daytime closures of Piney Woods Road (also known as 5 Mile Drive) beginning Monday, July 13. He said the road will be closed to all traffic during work hours, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will be unpassable during asphalt removal; residents were advised to use alternate access via Warwick Road and Route 78 where possible.
Meleski also announced planned water shutoffs for service customers: Old Westport Road will experience a water outage from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 9; Old Chesterfield Road, Clark Road and Woodard Avenue will have water turned off from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, July 13, with a rain date of Tuesday, July 14. He advised customers to prepare drinking and flushing water in advance, provided a contact number (603.239.4951 x4) for non‑emergency questions and reminded residents to call 911 for emergencies.
The board noted the State requirement that two engineers be present on each project site and tabled related contract amendments for discussion at the July 22 meeting when the town's consultant from Brown & Caldwell provides an update.
