The Freeman Public Schools Board of Education met Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Freeman Media Center and unanimously approved a package of routine and policy items, including claims totaling $761,691.22.
In the meeting’s first formal vote the board approved the consent agenda, which included the minutes of the previous meeting and claims in the amount of $761,691.22. The motion to approve was made by Kyle Dorn and seconded by Eldon Ideus; the vote was 6–0 in favor.
On insurance, the board voted to accept the Allicap insurance proposal for the 2026–27 school year. The motion was made by AJ Wiese and seconded by Kyle Dorn, and the roll call recorded Yea votes from Tiffany Buhr, Kyle Dorn, Eldon Ideus, Shawn Mencl, Myron Schoen and AJ Wiese (6–0).
Trustees also approved a renewal of a boys’ and girls’ swimming cooperative with Beatrice, Norris and Fairbury Public Schools through the 2027–28 school year. That motion was made by Kyle Dorn and seconded by Eldon Ideus and passed unanimously.
The board adopted the Student, Staff and Activity Handbooks for 2026–27 on a motion by Eldon Ideus with a second by Myron Schoen; the motion passed 6–0.
On personnel compensation, the board set substitute teacher pay at $175 per day and $180 per day for days 11 and up in a month. Tiffany Buhr moved the motion, with Kyle Dorn seconding; the board approved it unanimously.
Finally, the board approved renewal of membership dues to the Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association (NRCSA) for 2026–27 on a motion by Eldon Ideus, seconded by Myron Schoen; the vote was unanimous.
The meeting concluded with routine announcements and an adjournment at 8:47 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
