Hastings Public Schools board approves $4.56 million expenditures payment

The Hastings Public Schools Board of Education approved payment of expenditures totaling $4,558,091.94 at its Jan. 19 regular meeting. The motion to approve the payment was made by Christopher Shade and seconded by Jodi Graves; the board voted unanimously in favor of the payment.

Board Treasurer/member Christopher Shade introduced the motion after routine fiscal review; no members recorded a nay or abstention and one member, Stacie Widhelm, was excused. The approval was recorded during the recurrent business portion of the agenda.

The board did not discuss line-item details during the public meeting; the consent and finance materials accompanying the agenda were presented as the basis for the motion. The board's next regular meeting is Feb. 16, 2026, when financial reports will be available for further review if requested.
