Farrant City Council approved an outside-city culinary water connection for a property near 415 East Dutch Flat Road (application to be in Steven Ewell’s name), subject to the applicant providing two city water shares and accepting responsibility for maintenance beyond the meter.
At the meeting the applicant described the existing line configuration and easements (including use of adjacent property rights-of-way). Council and staff discussed the special service district process: typically the district asks for the city’s position on outside connections before proceeding. The chair explained that once the connection is authorized, the applicant’s usage will be metered at the city meter and any maintenance past the meter will be the homeowner’s responsibility.
Council member Brown moved to approve the outside water connection; the motion was seconded and carried on voice/roll-call vote. The chair noted some special-service-district votes can be sticky, but said that when applicants accept the maintenance and cost responsibility the district usually approves the extension.
Staff will note the condition that two shares be turned in for the connection as required under current agreements and will coordinate next steps with the special service district.
