Design-standards amendments tabled; staff to open informal review and public hearing later

The Design Review Board postponed consideration of proposed amendments to the downtown design standards until a future meeting to allow broader participation and review.

Board members said they preferred that those who have participated in drafting see the proposals and that the board have more members present for a final vote. A motion to table the design-standards approval until the next meeting carried on voice vote.

Phil proposed an informal "open door" review period—posting proposed language and design pages on the city website, offering drop-in sessions for property and business owners to comment, and then compiling feedback ahead of a formal advertised public hearing. Phil said staff would provide the board with comments from the review period and suggested adjustments before scheduling the formal hearing for adoption.
