The Keokuk City Council approved two capital expenditures: a budgeted purchase of a 2026 Ford F‑350 4x4 pickup for the street department and a contract award for the public safety building roof replacement.
Brian (speaker 4) told the council the new pickup, estimated at approximately $46,950, was included in the fiscal year 2026–27 budget to replace aging equipment and support street maintenance and snow removal. He said the city considered used vehicles but recommended new purchases for longevity and factory warranty; he also said a local dealer in Carthage offered a better price than available state bid pricing.
On the roof project, Brian reported bids were opened June 30 and four bids were received. Staff recommended awarding the contract to Commercial Contracting Services (CCS) of Kilkirk, Iowa, as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder at $197,450. Brian said the contractor proposed a different TPO supplier than specified, but the project engineer deemed the substitute comparable and would perform inspections during installation.
Both measures were approved by the council.
Next steps: staff will proceed with the purchase and execute the roof contract; project inspections will be conducted by the engineer during installation.
