Argyle Parks Board selects chair, sets regular monthly meeting

The newly formed Argyle Parks Board chose leadership at its inaugural meeting, adopting Izzy as chair and Heidi as vice chair after a motion from Board Member Nelson that passed unanimously.

Board member Nelson moved to nominate Izzy and Board Member Cottle seconded; staff announced the motion carried “6 in favor, none opposed.” The staff liaison reminded the board that, as an advisory body, formal direction flows to town council and cautioned members about open‑meetings rules, including avoiding email chains with more than four members to prevent inadvertent quorums.

The board agreed that regular meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.; staff said the next scheduled meeting is Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. Members asked staff to circulate contact information and to confirm procedures for handling public inquiries so that urgent service requests (for example, a fallen tree) are routed to staff while requests for new facilities or major changes are placed on future agendas.

The meeting ended after staff read a slate of items to place on future agendas — including a draft public survey, the Argyle Nature Trail rule book and a Branding and Wayfinding report — and members moved to adjourn.
