Resident warns Perry development could route traffic onto Willard streets; urges attendance at July 23 Perry meeting

During public comment on July 16, resident Brandon Jacobson (who identified himself at the podium) told the Planning Commission about a Perry City meeting scheduled for July 23 concerning a proposed road vacation and new development that could alter access at the Willard–Perry boundary.

Jacobson said a large sign advertised a meeting and that preliminary plans show a new road alignment that would cut in front of existing homes and open access to a planned area of townhomes and single-family lots. "There's a meeting on the 23rd... they're taking the street," he said, and described map features showing 70 townhomes and additional housing that could route traffic onto Hargas Hill Road and adjacent Willard streets. Other residents said the 17 or 18 homes planned for Harvey's Hill Road and a separate Nelson Homes (or Nielsen Homes) project would increase traffic and that Willard should coordinate with Perry or at least monitor the development plans.

Commissioners and residents urged people who live on Hargas Hill Road to attend the Perry meeting to ask questions; staff said the Perry map will be available and that Willard staff will obtain copies. The commission indicated Willard's authority to change Willard-side street standards is limited but encouraged residents to document concerns to Perry City planning staff and to notify their Willard council representatives if cross-jurisdictional impacts require coordination.

No formal action was taken; the commission recorded the public comment and scheduled related agenda items for future meetings if developers bring plans to Willard.
