Jason Criner presented the Wylie Economic Development Corporation’s FY2027 executive summary to the council on July 14, outlining revenues, staffing and key project placeholders.
Criner said the EDC is estimating roughly $26.8 million in available resources for the coming year (transcript phrasing used that approximate number), with an anticipated beginning fund balance of about $8.3 million and a projected ending fund balance near $13.2 million. He noted a personnel shift from six to five employees and a planned increase in incentive placeholders to support several confidential and negotiated projects. Criner reviewed recent and ongoing projects (including site and infrastructure work tied to Highway 78 and other local developments) and said additional project announcements are expected in coming months.
Council members thanked EDC staff for their work and asked for continued updates; the EDC noted that some incentives are negotiated and reported in executive session as allowed.
