Mukwonago awards Marsh View Drive extension contract for $3.665 million

The Village of Mukwonago Village Board voted July 15 to award the Marsh View Drive extension project to the apparent low bidder, recorded in the meeting as Munson Munson Brothers, for $3,665,113.07.

Staff recommended the award as the low responsive bidder; the next-lowest bid was described as near $4.0 million. Board members and staff noted the project is funded through a tax incremental district (TID) allocation rather than the general fund and discussed project scope. Staff said the contract work includes dual left-turn lanes required by developers, additional turn lanes related to the Kewaunas development, McDonald's access improvements, traffic-signal modifications to accommodate the dual lefts, and a park entrance improvement.

One trustee asked whether the village was behind schedule relative to private-site work; staff said the village's project would be completed before private site contractors finish and that some utilities will tie into the site during construction. A board member observed early conceptual figures for the corridor were much lower in earlier discussions but staff clarified the current project includes more extensive improvements and county highway work as part of the larger development.

The motion to award the contract was made and seconded and carried by voice vote.

Next steps: Staff will proceed with contract execution and coordinate with developers and utility partners on timing and signal work.
