Commission approves rezoning of 314 Fairview from institutional to R-2

The Tipton Plan Commission moved and approved a rezoning of 314 Fairview from an institutional designation to R-2 residential after staff said the small city-owned lot has limited development potential under the existing institutional zoning.

A staff member described the parcel as a corner lot in a residential area behind an empty field used for youth practice; the lot’s institutional designation stems from city ownership, and the applicant and staff said the small size and surrounding R-2 parcels make R-2 more appropriate for future use. The chair confirmed all required notifications were mailed and advertising was completed.

A motion to rezone the property to R-2 was made, seconded and approved by roll call; the chair said the motion carries.
