Council adopts first 2026 budget amendment adding funds for digital reader boards; facilities fund reserve noted below policy

At the July 13 meeting the council took up Ordinance 2841, the first budget amendment for the 2026 fiscal year.

Finance Director Kristen Reed gave the staff report. She said she made small changes between the first and second readings, including adding $35,000 to purchase two digital reader boards to be paid from the street fund; the IT fund allocation was adjusted via a one‑time transfer split across funds using the usual IT budget percentages. Reed also reported that the amendment will bring Fund 35 (the Facilities Fund) below the city’s reserve policy.

The council’s committee recommended approval and, following a motion and second, the council adopted the ordinance on second reading.

Reed said she is available to answer questions and the record shows the committee was in favor of the amendment. The meeting record does not show any council amendments to the ordinance text.
