The San Luis Economic Development Commission elected Commissioner Oscar Franco to a one-year term as chair and Commissioner Marie Carmen Lopez to serve as vice chair during its meeting.
Staff reviewed the commission bylaws that require an annual election of a chair from among members for a one-year term, with the option to serve two consecutive years. After nominations were taken, a member moved to nominate Oscar Franco for chair; the motion was seconded and approved by roll-call vote. The commission then nominated Marie Carmen Lopez for vice chair and approved that selection by voice vote.
The chair’s responsibilities, as explained by staff, include presiding over commission meetings, setting agendas and appointing meeting times. Commissioners did not adopt changes to those duties at this meeting. The newly elected chair and vice chair will lead the commission as it continues work on downtown revitalization and economic-development programming.
The commission completed the remainder of its agenda after the leadership votes and moved on to public-art and program items; staff confirmed the appointments during roll call.
