The Waukesha Water Utility Commission approved a recommendation to conduct a classification and compensation study with a contract amount not to exceed $20,000.
Staff said two vendors responded to the RFP — Cottingham and Butler and MRA — and recommended Cottingham and Butler because of stronger public‑sector benefits data and favorable references. The study will update job classifications and descriptions, align titles with current positions, and refine the utility’s compensation strategy.
A commissioner asked whether the utility participates in selecting comparable communities for benchmarking; staff replied the consultant will propose comparables but the utility will have input on the list. Commissioners also noted prior related work done by other consultants and firms; after discussion, the commission voted unanimously to approve the study contract.
