Waukesha Utility Approves $46,273.78 Change Order for New Operations Center Plumbing

The Waukesha Water Utility Commission unanimously approved a $46,273.78 change order to Myron Construction for plumbing additions at the new operations center.

Staff explained that the change order covers additional backflow prevention on hose reels in the garage and a pressure‑reducing valve that was not included in the original design; the plumbing inspector expressed concerns about one originally proposed device, so staff upgraded to a different solution the inspector permitted but that required a change order. "There wasn't in the original bid, but the contractor said you should put something in and, obviously, we'd agreed," staff said.

Commissioners asked clarifying questions about why the items were not in the original bid and staff confirmed the change order increase is necessary because the items were not included originally. The motion to approve passed unanimously.
