The Lee County board voted to place an ordinance amending Title 3, Chapter 8 of the Lee County liquor code — updating insurance liability limits and removing a bond requirement — on the July County Board agenda.
During discussion the chair summarized the change as an update to longstanding limits that have not been adjusted since 1993. “We went to 100,000 300,000 to 1000000,” the chair said when describing proposed liability-limit increases; the board also discussed dropping the bond requirement for liquor licensees. A public-safety committee member noted many establishments already carry the higher coverage.
The chair moved the ordinance to the July agenda, it was seconded, and the motion carried by voice vote. No final adoption of the ordinance occurred at this meeting; the action was procedural to place the item on the county board’s July agenda for formal consideration.
