Lee County reviews monthly finances; board moves parcel resolution to executive and discusses HVAC and body‑camera funding

At the board’s monthly financial report, Reid Acree said the county’s expenditures were running on pace and that sales tax receipts had rebounded after a May dip. He told members the county’s days in general‑fund balance were roughly 84 days at the end of November (the county’s policy target is 60 days) and walked through revenue shifts tied to LOTS moving away from county accounts.

During questions, members noted a computer and squad‑vehicle expense variance. The sheriff reported a vehicle was totaled in an accident and that insurance reimbursed about $26,000 toward replacement. The sheriff also said the county is outfitting correctional deputies with body‑worn cameras; the transcript shows about $174,000 remained in the camera fund and that a 50% state matching grant is expected to reimburse part of the program.

County Administrator Jeremy said the county has issued RFPs for health and other insurance and expects committee review in the coming months; any plan change would likely take effect next year. He also reminded the board the first budget hearing (an overview) is scheduled for next Tuesday.

On a land‑use item, the board voted to move a resolution regarding parcel number 070805285009 (Joseph E. Meyer) to the executive committee for inclusion in the full county board packet; the motion was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.

Facilities staff reported a capital reallocation proposal to repair or replace VAVs (variable air‑volume controls) at the new Quartz building. Staff said Honeywell is offering a discount on the required valves and proposed shifting funds from the old courthouse front‑lawn revitalization and other under‑budget projects to complete the HVAC controls work; staff will provide exact cost and funding‑source details next month.
