Council recognizes deputy fire marshal and hears department reports

The council formally recognized Deputy Fire Marshal John Keller for actions July 11 that contained a grass fire near critical water-supply infrastructure. Mayor and council praised Keller and the firefighting crews for rapid response that limited damage and freed up units to respond to a concurrent structure fire in North Logan.

Fire leadership summarized fire activity for the year and described outreach for the Ready, Set, Go wildfire preparedness program; police leadership summarized June activity, reporting 548 department calls in June, 409 within North Logan, 47 medical responses (18 falls), and hundreds of traffic stops with 61 citations for city stops in June.

Council thanked both departments and emphasized continued community education and preparedness as the fire season continues.
