Gary, the fair ambassador, briefed the Yamhill County Board of Commissioners on preparations for the upcoming county fair, saying vendor spots are sold out, barns are full and several headline acts and competitions are scheduled.
"We are busting at the seams," Gary told the board, describing a full schedule that includes bulls and barrels Wednesday, a sanctioned rodeo Thursday and Friday, a demolition derby Saturday, pie- and hot-dog-eating contests and a Saturday barbecue contest. He said concert bookings include Clay Walker, Sarah Evans, Bubba Sparks with Twista and C+C Music Factory, and Ender, and that golden-circle seating for some acts already sold out.
Gary said the Lewis Pavilion is filling with open-class exhibits and 4-H and FFA projects, carnival presales are strong, and organizers are finalizing grounds preparation. He also said the events center is negotiating multiple festival bookings and that scouting groups have expressed interest in a multi-day camping event that could bring about 2,000 participants.
The chair thanked the fair board and volunteers for their work preparing the fair and encouraged the public to attend beginning July 29. The board received the update with no action required.
