Commission reports Old Home Day trail work and flagpole installation on Oak Hill

Members of the Washington Conservation Commission held an Old Home Day hike up Oak Hill; two people attended the hike. Tim Kendrick and a trail crew cleared brush on the trail Friday, opened the viewpoint at the summit, and erected a flagpole and flag at the top. The commission thanked volunteers for the work and discussed scheduling a future hike near Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day in October, with a possible route on Jackson Hill.

Separately, Pete Martin said he reviewed the Trails and Recreation Guidebook and will send comments to Nan Schwartz; he raised a question about trail blazing. Pete also reported doing Adopt‑a‑Highway trash pickup along the town route and will notify Nan when he accumulates a couple of full bags so she can report it.
