The chair of Oxford’s Board of Election Supervisors acknowledged a procedural lapse in which a long‑time resident was allowed to use a voter card that did not meet the charter’s identification requirements and said she will report the error to the commissioners.
"We will never ever accept anything other than what is in the charter," the chair told board members, adding she will make the mistake public and notify the commission and pursue corrective action. Members agreed on specific operational fixes: clearer station checklists, A–Z tabs on poll books, reprinted forms to fix confusing signature lines, and instructions at each polling station about each worker's duties.
The board also discussed verifying ID expiration dates (for example, checking driver's license expiration) and using a standard checklist at each station so duties are seamless when workers rotate. The board said it will streamline absentee‑packet production next year (including ordering custom envelopes) and assign volunteers to develop the checklists and a milestone calendar of tasks leading to the next election.
No disciplinary action was recorded; the meeting's outcome was procedural: the board assigned follow‑up tasks to tighten protocols before the next election.
