Carroll County Health District schedules back-to-school immunization clinic and warns of poor air quality

Caitlin, speaking for the Carroll County General Health District, told the Board of Commissioners on July 16 that the health district will host a back-to-school immunization clinic on Aug. 3 for incoming kindergarten, seventh- and 12th-grade students. Appointments are required; residents are asked to call (330) 627-4866 ext. 1530 to schedule. "This information will also be shared on the commissioner's Facebook page," Caitlin said.

Caitlin also relayed that the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued an air-quality advisory for the state because smoke from Canadian wildfires may push air-quality readings into unhealthy ranges. She advised that sensitive groups — including children, older adults and people with certain medical conditions — avoid outdoor activities and that others consider limiting extended time outdoors. "The advisory will end once conditions improve," Caitlin said.

The health district scheduled the clinic for Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the upper level of the health department in Carrollton and noted that appointments are required. The board acknowledged the notice and had no follow-up questions at the meeting.
