The Onsted Village Council addressed routine business at its July 13, 2026 meeting, approving several administrative items and making a series of appointments and announcements.
The council approved payment of warrants totaling $11,441.61 on a motion by Shannon Kropp supported by Keri Jeffords. The council approved an ordinance variance for new apartments at 9984 Slee Rd (motion by Libby Chase, supported by Mark Robotham), though the minutes record only that the motion carried and do not include a roll-call tally or detail conditions of the variance.
Personnel actions included approval of a wage increase for Chauncy Kind following successful completion of an S4 license (motion by Mark Robotham, supported by Shannon Kropp) and the appointment of Janeana Sowders to the Park Committee (motion by Shannon Kropp, supported by Mark Robotham). The minutes do not record dollar amounts for the wage increase or staffing classification for Chauncy Kind.
President Robert Schafer reminded the council of two Water Treatment Plant tours/open houses scheduled for July 16 and August 13 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The council also noted an August 14 Main Street closure from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. for a Classic Car show. During councilmember comments, Robotham asked about Park St and Conner (fencing and the park), Jeffords raised liability-insurance concerns for events, and Muth requested that new hires be presented to the council with résumés.
President Schafer also announced he will not run for re-election next term and encouraged interested residents to consider running. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
