Homestead Restoration to start pedestrian bridge ramp repairs July 14, city to post updates

Jacob Vredenburg of Homestead Restoration told the Wanamingo City Council on July 13 that his company will begin repairs to the pedestrian bridge ramp on Tuesday, July 14, and expects to complete the work in about a week. The ramp had been damaged by a fire in May 2025.

Vredenburg said the contractor originally awarded the work in late 2025 could not obtain materials and both parties mutually agreed to void that contract in May 2026. Homestead Restoration, the second-lowest bidder, was able to secure materials and fit the job into its July schedule.

Boulton said he would be onsite at 10:00 a.m. when the work begins to take pictures and that the city will post an announcement on Facebook to inform the public.

No formal action was required; the Council received the update and staff will monitor the repair and public communications.
