Council grants certificate to I and M Airport Taxi to expand late-night service in Hendersonville

The Hendersonville City Council on July 2 adopted a resolution granting a certificate of public convenience and necessity to I and M Airport Taxi LLC, enabling the company to operate a taxi service that focuses on after-6 p.m. and overnight trips.

Staff explained that local taxi service currently limits operations in the evening and that an additional operator would help meet transportation needs for hospital trips and other off-hours demands. Applicant Eli, who said he is from Moldova and has experience as a driver for rideshare and taxi services, told the council he works nights frequently and wants to provide reliable late-hour service close to his family.

A council member said the service responds to a clear community need where Uber and Lyft coverage is limited. Following the public hearing, a council member moved to adopt the resolution; the motion passed by voice vote.

The resolution grants the certificate; staff noted additional administrative steps will follow to register vehicles and confirm operational compliance with city code.
