Middlefield Board of Finance: vacancy interviews continue; assistant animal control position discussed; budget prep items set

The Middlefield Board of Finance on July 9 noted that interviews to fill a vacancy on the board are continuing; no appointment was made.

Members discussed the Assistant Animal Control Officer position; the minutes record the discussion as ongoing and do not list a hire or a vote. Chair Lee Matterazzo asked the board to prepare a questionnaire in advance of the 2027/28 budget workshops, targeting October and November for that outreach and review. "Guard rails" was also noted under the chairman’s report for future consideration.

Administrative calendar items recorded in the meeting include notification that the town auditor will be on site July 15 and that the budget would be published July 10. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn moved by Mary Wolak and seconded by Jeanine Connelly; the motion passed unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
