Orleans council adopts ordinance rezoning lakeshore properties to R-1

The Orleans City Council on July 13 unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 233, rezoning parcels shown on the official zoning map from Conservation (CN) and General Residential (R-2) to Lakeshore Residential (R-1). Councilmember Rick moved the third-reading approval and the subsequent adoption, with votes recorded 5-0 in favor.

The ordinance changes were discussed in the meeting’s public-comment period. Kent Cocking thanked the city clerk and council for their work on rezoning his property. Orleans resident Bob Gordon addressed the change in the water operator, increased water rates, water supply matters, and a recent water outage; the council took no action on the water issues during the meeting.

Ordinance No. 233 updates the city’s official zoning map to reflect the Lakeshore Residential designation for the affected parcels. The council’s unanimous vote completed the ordinance’s adoption; no amendments were recorded at the July 13 session.
