The Otoe County Board of Commissioners accepted the consent agenda and handled routine county business during its July 14 meeting.
Chairman Jerad Sornson called the meeting to order and completed roll call. Commissioner Cole moved to accept the consent agenda; Commissioner Freshman seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The minutes and a list of vendor payments were presented as part of the consent agenda; the Regular Claims Total shown in the minutes was $833,196.04 and Payroll Claims Total was $355,410.03, for a Grand Total of $1,188,606.07.
Chad Miller, the county's Veteran Service Officer, delivered his quarterly report on veteran services. The board approved the reappointment of Gregg Goebel to the Veteran Service Committee for a term running July 2026 through June 30, 2031. Commissioner Cole moved and Commissioner Parsons seconded the reappointment; the vote was unanimous.
Commissioner Parsons moved, and Commissioner Cole seconded, adoption of Resolution 7-14-26-8 to amend Resolution 6-30-26-7 by approving a budget transfer of $1,103.19 from the Miscellaneous General budget (970) to the Welfare Office budget (804) dated June 30, 2026. The board voted unanimously to adopt the resolution.
Brian Briley, Highway Superintendent, presented a road report. There was no public comment. Chairman Sornson adjourned the meeting at 9:10 a.m.; the next regular meeting is July 28, 2026.
