Glenburn to advertise city auditor job after incumbent announces May retirement

The Glenburn City Council voted Jan. 5 to add and pursue an agenda item to advertise for the city auditor position after incumbency plans were disclosed.

Mayor Eric Folstad asked the council to implement a plan to recruit a replacement for City Auditor Donna Zeltinger, who will retire May 31, 2026. The council agreed to advertise the opening in the city newsletter, on the city website, in City Scan magazine and in the RC Farmer. Zeltinger will draft the advertisement and the council said she should return the draft for approval before posting.

Council members said a hiring committee will be formed to review applications and conduct interviews once the opening is publicized. The council added the advertising item to the meeting agenda and approved the amended agenda by motion (mover: Councilmember Dustin Dewbre; second: Councilmember David Hoff). No timeline for posting beyond those steps was specified at the meeting.

Council members framed the move as routine personnel succession planning for a position responsible for the city’s financial record-keeping and payroll functions. No formal hiring timeline, wage range or application deadline was recorded during the meeting. The council will return to the item once the advertisement is drafted and reviewed.
