Longtime partnership staffer Scott Redmond to retire this fall, panel to recruit science director

Scott Redmond, who said he first attended a Puget Sound board meeting in July 1996, announced at the July science panel that he plans to retire from state service this fall.

“I’m going to retire this fall,” Redmond said, reflecting on years of service and thanking staff and panel members. He described the in‑person meeting as one of his favorites and said he appreciates the long relationships built through the partnership.

Mindy Roberts and other staff said the organization is preparing a recruitment for the science director position and hopes to arrange overlap with Redmond if possible. Roberts asked panel members to help spread the position description when it posts and to encourage a broad, diverse candidate pool.

Why it matters: Redmond’s departure will create a senior vacancy on the staff team the panel supports; the partnership emphasized the desire for some overlap so that institutional knowledge can be transferred and transition risk minimized.
