Middletown Township Committee recognized local advocacy and achievements at its July 13 meeting.
Mayor Tony Perry read a proclamation designating June 4 as Tourette Syndrome Awareness Day and invited Claudia Amifo, outreach specialist for the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome, to speak about diagnosis delays, associated conditions and outreach in schools and health settings. Amifo described personal experience raising three sons, two of whom have Tourette Syndrome, and emphasized that diagnosis often relies on observation and can take years.
The committee also recognized dancers from the Daly Irish Dance School for their results at the 2026 CRDM World Championships in Dublin. Jillian (the school's instructor) introduced several top finishers, including Margot Oxley, the age-14 solo world champion, and other dancers who placed among the top ranks.
The recognitions were ceremonial; the committee congratulated the honorees and invited photos following the meeting.
