Pittsburg drafting $37,000 warrant article to finish transfer-station slab and retaining wall

Staff presented a draft warrant article asking the town to vote to raise and appropriate $37,000 to set and pour a retaining wall and concrete slab at the transfer station to finish the facility and allow better c and d dumping operations.

Members discussed making the ballot language intentionally broad ("concrete slab") to avoid binding the town to a specific configuration that could later limit options. Staff described operational problems at the transfer station—shifting concrete blocks and limited ability to position containers—and said the work would permit safer dumping and reduce frequent repairs.

The board agreed to place the article on the warrant and to refine supporting materials and footnotes for next week’s meeting so the public would have clear information on the request and funding sources.
