Ocean Pines board records unanimous email approval to build Tiki Kitchen at Yacht Club

The Ocean Pines Association announced that its president carried a unanimous email vote to approve a contractor for a new Tiki Kitchen at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club.

Director Jeff Hevner reported that, under the association bylaws and the Corporations and Associations Article of the Maryland code, the president had circulated and carried the email motion; the board recorded the unanimous decision in the meeting minutes for public record. Hevner said the approved contractor is My Hands Handyman and the amounts recorded in the minutes appear as “$316,000 and $500.”

General Manager Linda described the project as a “hybrid” arrangement with restaurant operator Touch of Italy contributing to interior-fitout costs while the association retains ownership of the structure. “We leveled five bids,” she said, and staff, with the association’s engineering and architectural firm, recommended the successful bidder after review.

The board’s formal announcement at the March meeting did not include a roll-call tally; Hevner said the email vote required unanimous consent and that unanimity was achieved. The board filed the email vote for inclusion in the meeting minutes.

Next steps described by staff include contractor scheduling and coordination with the Yacht Club’s food-and-beverage team; no construction timeline was provided at the meeting.
