Commissioners approve propane contract, small transfer and set meeting on regional appropriations

Director Mellisa Seamans reported the county has been tracking propane pricing; the board voted to contract with Eastern Propane for two years at $1.24 per gallon (motion Parker/Chandler, 3‑0). Later in the meeting staff reported the vendor’s price had increased from the July 2 price of $1.24 to $1.2853 per gallon; the board gave verbal consent to the updated cost without taking a new vote. The board also approved a capital line‑item transfer (2026‑001) of $2,564 (Chandler/Parker, 3‑0) and previously approved meeting minutes and manifest totals earlier in the agenda (recorded as approved by motions Parker/Chandler, 3‑0). The board set a meeting with the Delegation subcommittee to agree on a policy for distributing regional appropriations; Clerk Gene Chandler made the motion, which passed 3‑0.

For the record, Chairman Charles McGee stated, regarding non‑profit funding, that while “the non‑profits do great work” he “does not believe funding them is a county function” and prefers non‑profits seek town funding so town voters can decide.

The board also discussed administrative items including a generator replacement project and a reported $9,300 cleanup cost from an old fuel line leak that is not covered by insurance.
