Shelburne Selectboard approves $29.8 million loan application for wastewater consolidation project

The Shelburne Selectboard on July 14 approved submission of a Step 3 construction application for $29.8 million from the Vermont Clean Water Revolving Loan Fund to advance Contract #2 of the town's Wastewater Consolidation project. Town Manager Matt Lawless said the town has three separate contracts tied to work at the Wastewater Treatment Facility and that voters previously approved $38 million in local debt to finance the overall program.

Don Porter of the Finance Committee outlined loan details and the lending requirements the town will need to satisfy. Lawless said staff have been coordinating with state revolving loan fund staff and clarified that state approval of the Step 3 application is required before the town may formally contract for Contract #2.

Mike Ashooh moved the application approval, Chunka Mui seconded, and the motion passed unanimously, 4-0. The board's approval directs staff to proceed with the formal application and follow the state's funding and contracting procedures once state authorization is granted.
