Clerk: Miles awarded $500,000 CDBG water, sewer and stormwater grant; maintenance issues and Well No. 1 wiring scheduled

City Clerk Brenda L. Tebbe announced at the July 8 council meeting that the City of Miles has been awarded a 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for water, sewer and stormwater improvements in the amount of $500,000.

During the maintenance report, Paul Maze said he is having difficulty establishing grass in sections of the cemetery and recommended obtaining sod; council directed him to get quotes and agreed to consider the matter at the next meeting. Maze also reported that Alliant Energy is scheduled to be on site July 13 to wire Well No. 1 and to install the pole for the siren.

Clerk Brenda L. Tebbe read an email from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources about Brownfield program guidance later in the meeting, but the $500,000 CDBG award reported during the Clerk's report is separate and covers water, sewer and stormwater work.
