Klamath County commissioners approve contracts, equipment purchases and multiple Baker Tilly amendments

Klamath County commissioners voted unanimously on July 14 to approve a package of contracts, equipment purchases and administrative amendments that county staff said will support transportation projects, public health work and routine county operations.

The action items passed included hiring Kittleson & Associates to develop plans and specifications for urban intersection traffic signal and roundabout improvements; purchasing one Freightliner M2 106 Plus with a Carco crane from Premier Truck Group of Portland for the county fleet; and accepting a J&K Deese Excavation bid to replace the septic system at Project Homefront, 5225 N Highway 97. Jeremy Morris, public works director, presented the Kittleson proposal and the vehicle quote; Dennis Holmes, community corrections director, presented the Project Homefront bid. Each item was moved and seconded by commissioners and carried by unanimous vote.

County finance and administrative business accounted for additional approvals. The board approved Agreement 14441 with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for noxious weed control; county finance staff presented and the board approved Klamath County Domestic Well Assistance Grant agreements; and the sheriff’s office received authorization to enter a printer maintenance agreement with Canon Solutions. Jennifer Little, public health director, secured approval for Amendment #9 to Intergovernmental Agreement 185817 with the Oregon Health Authority for public health services, as well as multiple public health agreements: use of Moore Park by the City of Klamath Falls, Air Quality Program Support Agreement 001-27 with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and Climate Pollution Reduction Planning Grant Agreement 238-26 with DEQ.

Finance director Vickie Noel presented Amendment #2 to agreements with Baker Tilly affecting several county entities, including the employee pension plan, road service district, treasurer investment pool and county administration; the board approved those amendments. The board also recessed briefly to address and approve the same Baker Tilly amendment for the Drainage, Extension and Library Service District boards, then reopened the business meeting.
