Hanford commissioners flag possible gaming event, ask staff to review vice chair absences

Chair Hamm told the commission he saw a social‑media post about an event in August that might be held in the courthouse building and asked staff to investigate whether the event requires commission approval. A city staff member said they were not familiar with the event and asked the chair to forward details for staff review.

The chair also raised concerns about attendance, noting the vice chair has had "quite a few absences" and asking staff to check whether those absences were excused and whether the commission should consider selecting a new vice chair or offering training for the newly seated commissioners.

Staff said it will follow up with the director and return information as appropriate. The meeting then adjourned.
