Board approves right‑of‑way exchanges, road abandonment, flood‑control land purchase and liquor license recommendations

The Navajo County Board of Supervisors approved several routine land and administrative items during its regular meeting.

Public works staff presented Resolution 19‑2026, which would exchange a mislocated right‑of‑way for South Meadow Road in Heber so the legal right‑of‑way matches where the road was constructed. Following staff explanation, the board moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote.

The board also approved abandoning approximately 185 feet at the west end of Goodwill Lane in Lakeside; staff noted adjacent property owners provided letters of support and that property owners must work with utility companies on any utility easement matters.

During a convened session of the Navajo County Flood Control District, the board approved an amendment to a professional services contract with JE Fuller as part of the district consent agenda. Returning to regular session, the board approved the purchase of a 0.58‑acre parcel (APN 40973034) in Linden Trails to site a detention basin intended to reduce local runoff and flooding; staff said J2 Engineering recommended the location and confirmed homeowner‑association approval.

Finally, at two public hearings with no public comment, staff presented departmental clearance and recommended that the board forward (1) a beer‑and‑wine license transfer and (2) a new restaurant liquor license for AZ Tech's Coffee and Taproom in Overgaard to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control; the board made both recommendations by motion.
