The Ocean Pines Association Board voted to authorize the president to change the scheduled day and time for regular board meetings in May, June and July 2026, so long as notice is provided at least 10 working days in advance as required by the bylaws.
Steve Jacobs moved the measure, arguing the change would give the board flexibility during busy summer months. A board member objected, saying consistency helps residents know when to participate and expressed concern that changing days might limit access for some owners. "I'm not in favor of changing the established meeting schedule," a board member said, citing predictability and public participation as reasons for keeping the approved dates.
Other members supported the motion as an experiment to increase participation by owners who are not available on the current meeting days. Rick (board member) suggested when meetings are rescheduled they should be held in the evening (around 7 p.m.) to better accommodate owners who work full time. Monica (finance presenter) recommended trying a single month first rather than committing to all three months.
The board discussed options including using the president s existing authority (with 10 working days' notice) and conducting a short trial. After discussion the motion authorizing the president to schedule the MayJuly meetings with the required notice passed by voice vote.
Next steps: the president may set alternative meeting dates for the specified months and must issue notice at least 10 working days in advance.
