Kellnersville approves water-tower closeout documents, schedules catch-basin repair and hydrant replacement

The Village of Kellnersville on Feb. 9 approved documents closing out work on the water tower paint project, reviewed replacement quotes for a catch basin at the K and T intersection, and received a utility report on a repaired water-main leak and an upcoming hydrant replacement.

Trustee Scott Totten moved and Trustee Jason Kolb seconded approval and signing of pay request #3, the SDWLP disbursement request #4, and the certificate of substantial completion for the water tower paint project; the motion carried unanimously. The minutes record that the board approved those documents as presented.

Utility operator Todd Lensmeyer reported a coupling that previously failed underground at the park was tightened by Essential Water; asphalt repair remains necessary. Lensmeyer also reported the hydrant at the ponds is scheduled to be replaced on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026.

For a catch-basin replacement at the intersection of CTH K and CTH T, Lensmeyer presented two quotes: Essential Sewer & Water at $13,000 and DeGroot Construction at $11,500. County advisor Greg Grotegut recommended completing the work in spring 2026 rather than waiting for county work in 2027 to avoid collapse; Lensmeyer recommended using Essential Sewer & Water based on prior performance, and the board agreed.

The board later approved utility payables totaling $28,460.05 (including a $13,500 transfer from the money market to checking) as presented.

Next steps: Staff will sign and file the water-tower completion documents, schedule asphalt repairs for the park water-main area, proceed with the selected contractor for the catch-basin replacement this spring, and complete the hydrant replacement on Feb. 12, 2026.
