Council awards Sewer Headworks contract to low bidder JCI for roughly $894,365

Spring City Council voted July 9 to award the contract for the Sewer Headworks building to JCI, following a recommendation from Sunrise Engineering and staff.

A Sunrise Engineering representative described the project as a headworks installation that adds screening to remove debris and solids before the lagoons. The representative said the base bid was $857,389.40 and that a bid alternate to replace a partial flume added $36,976.16, for a combined total of $894,365.56 if the alternate is accepted. Sunrise and staff recommended awarding to JCI, the low bidder, citing positive past performance on local projects.

A councilmember moved to award the project to JCI and the motion was seconded. The council voted to approve the award; the project was described as falling within the existing funding authorization.

The council encouraged members to tour the site with city staff once work begins. Staff indicated the alternate was optional and the city would proceed in line with available funding priorities and the bid recommendation.
