Kane County introduces new USU Extension agricultural agent Andrew Heaton

The Kane County Commission introduced Andrew Heaton, who the commission said was recently hired by the Utah State University Extension as the county’s agricultural extension agent.

Heaton said he grew up in Cedar City, moved to Alton in April, and will support agriculture across the county from backyard gardeners to large producers. "My role is to support agriculture in any form throughout the county," Heaton said, noting work with the 4‑H program and plans for workshops, outreach and a needs‑assessment survey to identify community priorities. He encouraged residents to find contact information for the Extension online or through the county website.
