Wellness foundation tells council it serves 82 students and runs a 400-meal weekly senior program

Tammy Verhus, identified in the meeting as interim executive director of the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation, briefed the Eden Plus City Council on the nonprofit's school mental-health and senior-meals programs.

Verhus said the foundation's mental-health program served a total of 82 students: 62 at Enumclaw High School, nine at Enumclaw Middle School and 11 at Thunder Mountain. She described improvements in behavioral metrics across the 2025–26 period, stating the average incidence measure increased from 0.69 to 1.016, which she characterized as a roughly 32% improvement in the number of behavioral incidents recorded in classrooms. Verhus also said six Enumclaw High School students 'graduated' from therapy.

On senior meals, Verhus said the program currently serves 66 seniors year to date and that staff prepare about 400 meals from scratch each week; the program delivers six meals weekly through three delivery days. She thanked council for prior support and said the foundation has about 87 volunteers involved in meal prep, shopping and delivery.

Verhus asked the council to continue its partnership while the foundation completes a search for a permanent executive director. She invited council and staff to contact Sarah (the outgoing director) or representatives at the foundation with questions.

The council received the report and thanked Verhus for the update. No formal action was taken at the meeting.
